Streich, Pellissippi State’s welding technology program coordinator. “The welding technology program is at capacity right now, and this new space will allow us to meet the needs of more and more people who are recognizing that vocational training offers a real alternative to a four-year college education. A career in a traditional trade like welding offers immediate employment opportunities and long-term career options without the liability of enormous student loan debts.”

The project is expected to be finished by Aug. 15. When complete, the new shop will accommodate training in all major welding processes as well as fabrication, metallurgy, reading blueprints and other skills necessary to a career in welding.

“This is going to be a great addition to Pellissippi State’s excellent vocational training offerings,” said Jimmy Hawkins, president of Leon Williams Contractors. “They’re preparing not just to meet the current demand but anticipating the future of skilled trade education. My team and I certainly appreciate the commitment to skilled trades that Adam and Pellissippi State have demonstrated. We are excited to play a small part in the development of the workforce we will be using in the future.”

For more information about Pellissippi State, visit www.pstcc.edu or call 865-694-6400.

About Leon Williams Contractors

An experienced commercial design-build firm, Leon Williams Contractors simplifies the building process by effectively managing costs, adhering to deadlines and reducing complications to provide a seamless building experience.
